Bursa's Saitabat Waterfall Closed to Visitors Over Safety and Pollution Concerns

Local authorities in Bursa Province have barred public access to the Saitabat Waterfall in the Kestel district. The decision, issued by the Bursa Governorate and Kestel Municipality, restricts entry to the waterfall area while allowing visitors to view the site from designated observation points.

The ban responds to repeated environmental problems—litter, uncontrolled picnics, alcohol consumption, and illegal swimming—and to past safety incidents, including a serious injury to a child who fell into the river. Officials say the measures aim to protect the natural ecosystem and ensure visitor safety.

The closure applies throughout the summer season, when the site previously attracted thousands of tourists. Authorities will continue to monitor the area and may adjust restrictions based on compliance and environmental conditions.
