Buruku Bridge in Benue State set for completion by December 2027
The federal government’s Buruku Bridge project over the Katsina‑Ala River in Benue State is progressing toward a December 2027 completion. The 854‑metre dual bridge, built by Setraco Nigeria Ltd., aims to replace unsafe river crossings that have caused nearly 200 deaths in the past three years.
Officials say the bridge will link Benue with Taraba and Adamawa, easing transport of agricultural produce and reducing travel time for commuters. Funding is secured through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Fund, with no reported financial constraints. During an inspection, Special Adviser Bayo Onanuga and Deputy Governor Samuel Ode highlighted the bridge’s economic benefits and its role in connecting previously underserved communities.
