Burundi and Burkina Faso launch national development and empowerment initiatives
In Burundi, Communication and Media Minister Evelyne Butoyi has launched a specialized training program for over 300 journalists in Gitega. The initiative aims to equip media professionals with the knowledge required to communicate the objectives and implementation of the ‘Burundi Vision 2040-2060’ national development plan. The training will expand from Gitega and Buhumuza to other provinces, including Bujumbura, to ensure nationwide coverage.
In Burkina Faso, the ‘Pagb Yidgr-Sooré’ national communication campaign, focused on female entrepreneurship, has arrived in Ouahigouya. The program integrates women's economic empowerment with health services, including reproductive health screenings and awareness campaigns against gender-based violence and child marriage. Regional authorities noted that security challenges and population displacements continue to impact girls' education and healthcare access in the region.
