Yvelines police officer detained for suspected terrorism preparation

A 35-year-old police officer stationed in the Yvelines department has been placed in pre-trial detention following an investigation into suspected terrorist activities. The officer was intercepted by the Anti-Terrorism Sub-Directorate (SDAT) while leaving his place of work on August 23.

The suspect is accused of preparing individual acts of terrorism and is suspected of having links to the ultra-right movement. Investigators believe he intended to carry out violent attacks against state interests and potentially law enforcement members. During searches of his home and vehicle, authorities reportedly found weapon components.

The National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office has opened a judicial inquiry involving charges of individual preparation for terrorist acts, the manufacture and possession of category A or B weapons in connection with a terrorist enterprise, and provocation to terrorism via online communication services.
