Burundi First Lady reviews early childhood development project

Burundi's First Lady, Angeline Ndayishimiye, opened a workshop in Mugere to review the results of an early childhood development model project. The initiative, implemented in the former Kayanza province between 2024 and 2026, received funding from the Netherlands and UNICEF.

During her address, Ndayishimiye emphasized the importance of nutrition, health, and education for children, describing them as the nation's future capital. She urged parents to provide balanced diets and instill responsible values in their children to support national development. She also encouraged the expansion of this model to other communes across the country.

Public Health Minister Fidèle Nkezabahizi reaffirmed the government's commitment to integrated early childhood development, noting that the first years of life are a critical period for human development and the construction of human capital.
