Burundi residents receive solar kits and housing materials

In Burundi, various humanitarian and developmental initiatives have provided essential resources to rural and vulnerable populations. In the Biyorwa zone of the Butaganzwa commune, 114 households on Nyamugari hill received solar kits on October 18, 2026. This donation, provided by the People's Republic of China, aims to improve domestic comfort and provide lighting for evening activities and studies.

Separately, in the Ruyigi commune, 20 low-income households received 400 metal roofing sheets on October 8, 2026. The beneficiaries include 15 families repatriated from Tanzania and five vulnerable local households. The distribution was led by Ruyigi communal administrator Diane Nibitanga and refugee repatriation coordinator Cyprien Nduwimana. This initiative is part of an ongoing effort to improve housing conditions and support the socio-economic reintegration of repatriated individuals.
