Mojkovac-Kolašin highway bus accident injures five people

A bus carrying approximately 90 students from Podgorica was involved in a traffic accident on the Mojkovac-Kolašin highway near Štitarička Rijeka. The incident occurred around 20:35 when a rockfall from a nearby hillside forced the driver to attempt an evasion, causing the front right side of the bus to strike a rock embankment.

Five people sustained injuries in the collision. The tour leader, a 28-year-old, suffered serious injuries, including a fractured pelvis and vertebra, and was transported to the Clinical Center of Montenegro. Four students from the Pavle Rovinski Primary School sustained minor injuries and were treated at the Bijelo Polje General Hospital.

The driver, a 53-year-old Serbian citizen with temporary residence in Montenegro, was arrested and faces charges of serious offenses against public traffic safety. Authorities confirmed the driver was not under the influence of alcohol. Following the accident, emergency services and police coordinated the evacuation of the remaining students, some of whom were picked up by parents or transferred to other buses provided by the travel agency.
