Seven killed in Buenos Aires Province Ruta 192 head‑on crash
A violent head‑on collision occurred on Friday night at kilometre 22 of Ruta Provincial 192, between the towns of Torres and Exaltación de la Cruz in Buenos Aires Province. A Chevrolet/GMC Chevette carrying eight occupants struck a Mercedes‑Benz truck travelling in the opposite direction during a severe storm that reduced visibility. Seven of the vehicle’s occupants died, including three minors, while the sole survivor, 21‑year‑old Ignacio Sobot, was rescued and placed in intensive care. The truck driver, a 22‑year‑old, and his 53‑year‑old passenger escaped unharmed. The crash was investigated as “homicidio culposo” by fiscal Matías Nogueira. Authorities noted the Chevette was overloaded, exceeding its five‑seat capacity. Police, firefighters and emergency services worked for several hours to secure the scene, conduct peritages and clear the road, which was partially closed during the operation.
