Bus destroyed by fire on Santos Dumont Highway in Indaiatuba
A bus was completely destroyed by fire on Wednesday morning on the marginal lane of the Santos Dumont Highway (SP-075) in Indaiatuba, Brazil. The vehicle was empty at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported. The driver managed to exit the bus before the flames spread.
Firefighters and civil emergency teams responded to the scene around 7:58 a.m. to combat the blaze and perform cooling operations. The concessionaire, Via Colinas, reported that the fire occurred off the main track and did not impact traffic flow on the highway.
Viação Princesa D’Oeste stated that the bus was returning to the garage and was not transporting passengers when the fire occurred. The company noted that it maintains a preventive maintenance program and that this is the first such occurrence in the group's 60-year history. Authorities are investigating the cause, and the company has not ruled out external factors such as vandalism.
