Bus driver and wife arrested in Porto Velho with 40kg of marijuana

A bus driver and his wife were arrested by the Military Police in the Liberdade neighborhood of Porto Velho, Rondônia, after being found with more than 40 kilograms of marijuana. The drugs were discovered inside a bag within a Volkswagen Golf as the couple was leaving the bus company where the husband works.

The driver claimed he picked up the package near the BR-319 highway, close to the Manaus region, and stated he was to receive R$ 2,000 for the transport. He further alleged he was unaware that the bag contained illegal substances. The couple and the seized drugs were taken to the Civil Police of Rondônia for investigation into the interstate trafficking route and the identities of the senders and recipients.
