Bus drivers in Italy face increasing violence and aggression
Public transport operators in Italy are reporting a rise in violence and verbal abuse. In Verona, the Ugl Autoferrotranvieri union is demanding the total segregation of driver cabins on ATV vehicles following a recent incident. On October 28, a driver on line 22 was subjected to insults, physical threats, and spitting by an individual in an altered state.
In Mantova, an Apam bus driver was assaulted by a young man attempting to evade a ticket inspection on Corso Libertà. The suspect reportedly pushed a security door against the driver to force his way off the bus. The incident caused a suspension of service, and Carabinieri are currently investigating to identify the individual.
