Bus fire at Heraklion Airport destroys vehicle, damages nearby structure

Early Sunday around 06:30 a.m., a KTEL bus parked in the bus depot of Heraklion Airport caught fire. The flames quickly engulfed the bus and spread to an adjacent prefabricated building, producing thick black smoke that was visible across the area.

Firefighters responded with ten to eleven fire engines and about 25 personnel. They kept the blaze under control after roughly two hours, preventing further spread. The bus was completely destroyed and the nearby structure suffered damage, but no injuries were reported. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
