Bus fire in Montes Claros leaves 65 passengers safe

An interstate bus carrying 65 passengers caught fire on Friday morning on the Anel Rodoviário Doutor Mário Tourinho in Montes Claros, northern Minas Gerais. The vehicle was traveling from São Paulo toward various cities in the Northeast of Brazil.

By the time the Minas Gerais Military Firefighters Corps arrived at the scene near km 16, the bus was completely engulfed in flames. All 65 passengers had successfully disembarked and were moved to a safe area; no injuries were reported.

Firefighters used approximately 13,000 liters of water and two fire trucks to combat the blaze. The incident caused the closure of the highway, which connects the BR-135, BR-365, and BR-251 roads, with support provided by the Military Highway Police.
