Bus fire in San Pedro Sula evacuates 20 workers

A bus transporting approximately 20 workers caught fire on Saturday morning while traveling along the Bulevar del Sur near the CA-5 highway in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The incident occurred around 5:30 a.m. as the vehicle was heading toward a local factory to deliver employees to their shifts.

The driver noticed smoke and flames originating from the engine area and immediately pulled the vehicle to the side of the road. This quick reaction allowed all passengers to evacuate the bus safely before the fire spread. The driver and some passengers used on-board fire extinguishers to attempt to control the flames until the Fire Department arrived to perform cooling operations and secure the area.

No injuries or fatalities were reported, though the vehicle sustained severe damage to its engine and electrical systems. The owner of the bus stated that the cause of the fire, whether due to an electrical fault or overheating, remains unknown. The incident caused temporary traffic congestion in the area during the emergency response.
