Bus workers assaulted by passenger in Bahia
A bus conductor and driver were assaulted by a passenger in the state of Bahia, Brazil, following a dispute over luggage identification. The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon during an intercity trip between Itabuna and Itacaré.
The conflict began when the passenger informed the conductor, Péricles Barbosa Santos, that he had lost the ticket required to identify his baggage. When the conductor explained the necessary procedures for luggage retrieval, the passenger reacted violently. The assault resulted in injuries to the conductor's face, including wounds to his eyebrow, nose, and head. The bus driver also attempted to intervene to stop the attack but was subsequently assaulted by the passenger.
The victim, aged between 40 and 51, was treated at a local health unit and later transferred to the Hospital Costa do Cacau. Rota Transportes, the company responsible for the service, replaced the employees so the bus could complete its route. The Civil Police are currently investigating the case as intentional bodily injury and are working to identify and locate the suspect.
