Busan Intercity Film Festival to showcase local cinema from 21 cities

The 10th Busan Intercity Film Festival is scheduled to take place from August 28 to 30 at the Cinema Center Cinematheque and Mousai Theater. Under the slogan ‘Film People City’, the festival aims to introduce local films from various cities and connect Busan with the global film community.

This year’s event features participation from 21 cities and film platforms, including 16 UNESCO Creative Cities of Film from 12 different countries. Participating cities include Valladolid and Terrassa in Spain, Wellington in New Zealand, Potsdam in Germany, Łódź in Poland, Yamagata in Japan, and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

Special programming includes the ‘Drawing City’ section, which presents films exploring the memories and realities of cities affected by war, such as works set in Myanmar and Sarajevo. The festival also commemorates the 10th anniversary of the Busan Intercity Residency film production project, featuring the documentary ‘The Myth of Nature’ by director Lee Seong-uk, who was dispatched to Łódź, Poland.
