Busan International Film Festival announces competition entry and closing host

The 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF), scheduled to run from October 6 to 15, has announced key details regarding its lineup and closing ceremony. The 3D animated film ‘Long, Long Night’, based on a bestselling book, has been selected for the festival's competitive section. The film, which follows the journey of a white rhino and a young penguin, previously secured a Centerpiece selection at the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.

Actor Im Si-wan has been appointed as the sole host for the BIFF closing ceremony. The ceremony will include the Busan Awards, which recognizes winners from the festival's competitive categories. Im Si-wan, known for his roles in ‘Squid Game’ and ‘Misaeng’, was selected for his ability to provide stable and impactful hosting for the festival's finale.
