Busan International Film Festival announces major programs and honors

The 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has announced several major programming highlights, including the world premiere of Kim Jong-kwan’s ‘The Table: Day and Night.’ The film explores various stages of romantic relationships through the lens of four different couples interacting within a single café.

In a tribute to the late Korean screen legend Ahn Sung-ki, the festival is launching a Special Program in Focus titled ‘Those Beautiful Years, Ahn Sung-ki.’ The program features a six-film lineup selected by the actor prior to his death, showcasing his peak years in the 1980s and 1990s. The festival will also release an essay collection documenting his seven-decade career.

Additionally, the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) has named Thailand as the inaugural recipient of its ‘Country of Honor’ program for 2026. This high-tier partnership recognizes the strong cinematic ties between the two markets and aims to facilitate new opportunities for Thai film productions.
