Busan International Film Festival opens with Michelle Yeoh and Kim Hye-ja

The 31st Busan International Film Festival opened at the Busan Cinema Center, featuring several prominent figures from Asian cinema.

Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh attended the event to receive the ‘Asian Filmmaker of the Year’ award. Appearing in a Dior 2027 early spring resort collection silk gown, she expressed the deep significance of returning to Busan after 15 years. Actor Cho In-sung also walked the red carpet wearing a classic black Dior tuxedo.

Veteran actress Kim Hye-ja, aged 85, appeared on the red carpet to promote her new film, ‘Still Shining’. While she greeted fans and maintained an elegant presence in traditional Hanbok, observers noted she appeared to cough frequently and required assistance to walk, leading to public concern regarding her health. Her upcoming film, which marks her return to the big screen after nine years, is scheduled for release on the 21st.
