Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo appoints Son Ji-hyeon to lead Social Service Agency

Busan Mayor Jeon Jae-soo has made his first appointment of a public institution head following his inauguration, naming Professor Son Ji-hyeon of Silla University as the head of the Busan Social Service Agency.

Son, who has taught at Silla University for over a decade, is an expert in social welfare policy and administration. She previously served as the head of the Healthy Citizen Happiness Division during the mayor-elect's transition committee. Her three-year term will focus on establishing customized community care systems and improving social service delivery models for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

This appointment follows a local ordinance that required the automatic dismissal of previous officials from invested and contributed public institutions upon the start of a new mayor's term. The appointment of Son is part of a broader trend of placing individuals from the mayor's election campaign and transition committee into key administrative and advisory roles within the Busan municipal government.
