Busan Mayor meets Chinese Ambassador to expand economic, maritime and tourism cooperation
On 28 May, Busan Mayor Jeon Jae‑soo received Chinese Ambassador Dai Bing at the city hall’s international protocol room. The two officials discussed ways to broaden cooperation between Busan and China in trade, maritime affairs and tourism.
Mayor Jeon highlighted the recent launch of direct flights – China Eastern’s Busan‑Nanjing route and Lucky Air’s Busan‑Hangzhou service – as a growing foundation for exchanges. He emphasized Busan’s existing ties with Chinese port cities such as Shanghai, Tianjin, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and called for deeper sharing of port policies and data. In tourism, the mayor pledged to improve infrastructure, curb price‑gouging and enhance visitor services to attract more Chinese tourists, especially through expanded cruise offerings. Ambassador Dai echoed the positive momentum, noting opportunities in artificial intelligence and advanced industries, and expressed hope for continued local‑government collaboration.
Both sides agreed to work closely to develop future‑oriented partnerships that benefit their economies and peoples.
