Busan roundhouse kick victim slams judge's 'media play' remarks

The victim of the notorious ‘Busan roundhouse kick’ case has expressed deep distress following controversial remarks made by a judge during an appellate trial. The victim, identified by a pseudonym, criticized the court for suggesting she was engaging in ‘media play’ and for questioning her fear regarding retaliatory threats made by the perpetrator.

The perpetrator, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence for the original assault, is facing an additional trial for making retaliatory threats while in custody. During the proceedings at the Busan High Court, the presiding judge reportedly remarked that the case felt like it was being ‘politicized’ and questioned whether the victim’s fear of the perpetrator’s threats was a natural reaction.

The victim stated that such comments are insulting to those waiting for justice and dismiss the genuine terror caused by threats of death. She emphasized that as a private citizen, facing a perpetrator who has vowed to kill her is a life-altering matter, not a political or media-driven spectacle.
