Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam councils declare cooperation for regional development

The Busan Metropolitan Council, Ulsan Metropolitan Council, and Gyeongnam Provincial Council have signed a joint cooperation declaration to strengthen supra-regional development and cooperation. The agreement aims to establish a systematic framework for the three regions to collaborate on shared policy tasks, secure national funding, and respond to institutional improvements.

To implement this, the councils will establish the ‘Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Council for Supra-regional Development,’ consisting of council chairs and members. This will be supported by a working-level committee to manage specific agendas. Key areas of cooperation include future industries such as shipbuilding, maritime affairs, future mobility, aerospace, defense, nuclear energy, and artificial intelligence. Additionally, the councils plan to collaborate on regional balanced development, expanding metropolitan transportation networks to create a one-hour living zone, and integrating culture and tourism.
