Buscyl transport system reaches 19 million trips in Castilla y León
The Castilla y León Ministry of Mobility, Digital Transformation, and Artificial Intelligence is entering the final phase of deploying new functionalities for the Buscyl transport system. After one year of operation, the free bus service has reached approximately 856,000 users and nearly 19 million trips, with 11.2 million occurring on metropolitan lines.
New developments include the launch of a mobile application and a pre-booking system to better balance supply and demand. The regional government is also implementing a ‘digital twin’—an advanced simulation and analysis tool—to model the public transport network. This integration of Big Data and predictive analytics aims to place the region at the forefront of intelligent transport management.
Technical testing is currently underway to connect vehicle equipment with the central control system located in León. Pilot programs for the new features are being tested on the León-Astorga-Vega de Espinareda line, with plans to expand these services throughout the year.
