Buseo Dam preventive discharge ordered due to heavy rain risks

The Generalitat Valenciana's Emergency Coordination Center has initiated a preventive discharge process at the Buseo Dam, located in the municipality of Chera, due to forecasted heavy rainfall.

Local authorities in downstream municipalities, including Sot de Chera, Chulilla, Gestalgar, Bugarra, and Pedralba, have been instructed to intensify surveillance and monitoring. The discharge is expected to increase water flow levels, potentially affecting riverbeds and surrounding areas.

Emergency services have advised local governments to warn populations living near riverbanks, as well as those in camping areas, sports facilities, and fishing spots. Farmers with land near the river and irrigation communities are also urged to take precautions. Additionally, authorities recommend temporarily prohibiting or signaling passage through roads and paths that cross the river current to prevent accidents.
