Buses targeted by fire in separate incidents in Faridpur and Mymensingh

Multiple buses were targeted by fire in separate incidents across Bangladesh.

In Faridpur, a Purasha Paribahan bus caught fire late Friday night while in police custody near the Karimpur Highway Police Station. The vehicle, which had been seized as evidence following a fatal accident on September 3, was parked in an open field because the station's new building lacks a boundary wall. Fire service officials extinguished the blaze after approximately 35 minutes, though most of the vehicle was destroyed. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

In separate incidents around midnight on Saturday, parked buses were torched in Mymensingh and at the Daulatdia bus terminal in Rajbari. In Mymensingh, a Soukhin Paribahan bus was set on fire in front of the Maskanda Bus Terminal. Police reviewed CCTV footage showing miscreants arriving on motorcycles and have detained one suspect. The Mymensingh Transport Owners’ Association has advised drivers to keep vehicles inside terminals due to fears of further sabotage.
