Bushehr Province reports eight teenage fatalities in motorcycle accidents

Eight teenagers and young adults, aged between 12 and 18, died in motorcycle-related accidents in Bushehr Province over the past week.

Babak Kavehian, head of the Safety and Smart Monitoring Department of the Bushehr Province Road Maintenance and Transportation Department, described the period as one of the most tragic statistical intervals for traffic accidents in the province. He emphasized that motorcyclists are highly vulnerable road users because motorcycles lack protective chassis or bodies.

Authorities have issued warnings to parents against allowing unlicensed minors to operate motorcycles on main roads and highways. Kavehian noted that even if teenagers appear skilled, they often lack the traffic experience necessary to manage blind spots of heavy vehicles or handle sudden crises.

Drivers of passenger vehicles are urged to reduce speed when approaching motorcyclists or pedestrians, maintain a safe lateral distance to avoid causing wind pressure or psychological shock to riders, and avoid distractions such as mobile phones to ensure maximum reaction time.
