Business growth trends in São Paulo state

The economic landscape in the Oeste Paulista region showed significant dynamism in 2026, with 18,640 new companies opening across 54 municipalities. Microentrepreneurs (MEIs) played a dominant role in this expansion, accounting for 12,847 registrations, or 68.9% of all new businesses. Presidente Prudente emerged as the primary regional hub, recording 6,817 new openings, including 5,131 MEIs, which represents 36.6% of the region's total new businesses.

In the capital city of São Paulo, business attraction remains a major economic driver. Between 2021 and the first half of 2026, the city recorded the opening of 1,007,827 companies and saw 101,116 businesses transfer their headquarters to the capital from other municipalities. These transfers contributed over R$ 5.1 billion in municipal tax revenue during this period. Factors such as legal certainty, infrastructure, and access to professional networks are cited as key drivers for companies choosing to establish or expand operations in the capital.
