Business insolvencies rise in Bavaria, Germany

Bavaria has recorded over 2,630 corporate insolvency proceedings in the last 12 months, averaging approximately seven companies per day. This upward trend affects various sectors, including trade, services, construction, healthcare, and gastronomy.

Major urban centers report the highest number of filings, led by Munich with 503 cases, followed by Nuremberg with 177, and Augsburg with 83. Since 2020, Bavaria has seen a total of 6,413 insolvency proceedings, with more than one-third occurring within the last year.

In the Swabia region, notable cases include battery manufacturer Varta in Nördlingen, which impacts approximately 4,000 employees, as well as cibite AG in Donauwörth and VV Wohnbau GmbH in Günzburg.
