Business leaders join Helm campaign against UK tax increases
Prominent business leaders, including John Caudwell and Lord Stuart Rose, have joined the ‘Stop the Creep’ campaign led by the entrepreneur group Helm. The campaign is urging the UK government to halt and reverse rising taxes that signatories argue penalize founders and hinder business growth.
The group, which includes over 150 business leaders and parliamentarians, is making three specific demands: the reversal of the increase in Employers’ National Insurance, the restoration of previously cut entrepreneurial reliefs, and the establishment of a stable roadmap for business taxation.
Lord Rose, former chairman of Marks & Spencer, warned that taxes and regulation have become ‘serious impediments to growth and employment,’ citing the significant impact of National Insurance on large employers. The campaign warns that without these changes, Britain risks becoming an ‘incubator economy’ that creates businesses but lacks the stability to keep them.
