Business Mauritius advises normal work hours amid expanded curfew

Business Mauritius has advised its member companies to maintain normal working hours on October 15 and 16, following the implementation of an expanded nighttime curfew. The curfew, which runs from 20:30 to 05:00, has been extended to include additional regions such as Quartier-Militaire and Saint-Pierre.

While recommending standard operations, the employers' federation urged businesses to make necessary adjustments to accommodate the closure of schools and nurseries. Business Mauritius also emphasized that employers should prioritize employee safety and strictly follow official government instructions.

Exemptions to the curfew remain in place for essential services, including public and private utility providers, medical professionals handling urgent care, pharmacists, fuel station employees, and workers at ports and airports. Security, waste collection, and cleaning services are also permitted to operate under the stipulated decree conditions.
