Business verification and experience drive client trust

Business owners are advised to implement verification procedures when engaging with new clients or suppliers to mitigate financial and operational risks. Research conducted by the KVK in May 2026 among nearly 750 entrepreneurs revealed that 55% of respondents do not verify the KVK number of new business partners.

Essential checks for new business relationships include verifying the trade name, KVK number, address, and business activities. For contractual agreements, it is also important to confirm whether the contact person has the legal authority to sign on behalf of the company. While a KVK registration confirms a business exists, it does not guarantee payment reliability or service delivery.

Additionally, professional experience remains a decisive factor for customers when choosing between similar providers. Experienced companies often offer greater certainty by having encountered and resolved various issues previously, which can prevent costly errors and provide more realistic expectations compared to newer market entrants.
