Businessman arrested over derogatory social media post about CM Vijay
Chennai cybercrime police have arrested Prawin Ganeshan, founder of Wintrack Inc and Kamakart, following an allegedly derogatory social media post regarding Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and an actress.
The post, which included an advertisement for intimate products, was reportedly uploaded in June while Ganeshan was in Guangdong, China. Although the post was later deleted, a social activist filed a complaint after capturing a screenshot and the URL.
Following instructions from Chennai Police Commissioner A Amalraj, authorities issued a Look Out Circular (LOC). Ganeshan was detained by immigration officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi early Saturday morning while traveling from Hong Kong.
A Chennai cybercrime team traveled to Delhi to secure a transit remand from a magistrate, allowing Ganeshan to be transported to Chennai for court proceedings.
