Businessman Deepak Mittal dies under suspicious circumstances in Chandigarh

Deepak Mittal, a 56-year-old businessman from Raipur involved in rice milling and government food supply contracts, died under suspicious circumstances at the Taj Hotel in Chandigarh. Mittal had traveled to the city to attend a meeting with Markfed Punjab.

Hotel staff discovered Mittal unconscious in his room, and he was later declared dead at a hospital. Police recovered alcohol bottles and medications from the hotel room. While initial indications suggest a potential overdose of medication, the official cause of death remains unconfirmed pending a post-mortem report.

Investigations are ongoing regarding a woman who visited Mittal at the hotel on Tuesday. Mittal’s daughter has alleged that a gold chain and bracelet are missing. Chandigarh police are currently reviewing CCTV footage of the hotel corridors and questioning the woman to determine her role in the events leading up to his death.
