Antônio Carlos Freixo Júnior signs plea deal in Dark Horse film investigation
Businessman Antônio Carlos Freixo Júnior, owner of Entre Investimentos e Participações, has signed a plea bargain agreement with the Prosecutor General's Office (PGR) regarding investigations into Banco Master and the financing of the film ‘Dark Horse,’ a biopic about former President Jair Bolsonaro.
Freixo Júnior, known as ‘Mineiro,’ testified that his company acted as an operational arm for banker Daniel Vorcaro, facilitating financial transfers and obtaining large sums of cash. He reported delivering money in suitcases to Vorcaro and managing ‘unorthodox’ operations, such as transfers without backing.
The investigation focuses on funds sent to the Havengate Development Fund in Texas, USA, which is administered by Paulo Calixto, a lawyer associated with former deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro. While the funds were officially intended for the production of ‘Dark Horse,’ authorities are investigating whether the money was diverted to cover the personal expenses of Eduardo Bolsonaro in the United States.
Senator Flávio Bolsonaro is also implicated, as he allegedly negotiated the financing, which included a request for approximately $24 million. The plea deal has been forwarded to Supreme Court Minister André Mendonça for potential ratification. This is the second plea bargain in the Banco Master case, following one from João Carlos Mansur.
