Businessman José da Silva Nogueira Netto dies during marathon

Businessman José da Silva Nogueira Netto, 48, died following a sudden medical emergency during the João Pessoa Half Marathon in Paraíba. Nogueira Netto, the CEO of Ótica Personallité, was participating in the 21-kilometer route when he collapsed near the finish line.

Despite immediate emergency medical intervention and approximately one hour of resuscitation attempts by event medical teams, he did not survive. Nogueira Netto was an experienced long-distance runner who frequently participated in athletic competitions.

A technical report from the Scientific Police Institute (IPC) identified the cause of death as concentric hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition involving abnormal thickening of the heart walls. The examination also revealed signs of previous myocardial infarctions.
