Businessman released under precautionary measures in João Pessoa

Businessman Alysson Campelo Catuhyte Wanderlei was granted freedom following a custody hearing in João Pessoa, Paraíba, despite being arrested for a second time in connection with domestic violence. Wanderlei had been detained since August 14 but was released on Friday with an electronic ankle monitor. Shortly after his release, he was arrested again following allegations that he contacted the victim.

A judge ruled that Wanderlei may remain free under specific precautionary measures, including a prohibition on contacting or approaching the victim and a requirement for daily house arrest. Lawyers representing the victim have expressed intent to appeal the decision, arguing that the victim remains at “concrete and imminent risk” because the suspect has already demonstrated a failure to respect previous legal restrictions.
