Businessman seeks to become CBI approver in West Bengal school job scam

Santu Gangopadhyay, a Kolkata-based businessman accused in the multi-crore West Bengal school job recruitment scam, has requested to become an approver before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

In a letter to the CBI, Gangopadhyay claimed he previously remained silent due to life threats during the previous Trinamool Congress government. He stated that following the change in government after recent Assembly elections, he now feels confident enough to reveal details regarding the corruption case involving primary teacher recruitment.

Gangopadhyay, a close associate of former West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee, alleged that he and fellow accused Kuntal Ghosh delivered money to a top Trinamool Congress leader. He further claimed they faced pressure from this leader for failing to meet a target of collecting Rs 5 crore from teaching candidates.
