Businessman shot by masked assailants in Noakhali

A businessman named Mizanur Rahman, 34, was shot by masked, armed assailants at his shop in the Jinu Market area of Begumganj, Noakhali, on Saturday night. The attack occurred around 10:30 PM while Rahman was busy with business transactions.

The assailants, described as a group of 20-25 masked individuals, fired at close range, striking Rahman in the left side of his abdomen, left arm, and left thigh. Following the shooting, the attackers fled the scene.

Rahman was initially taken to the Begumganj Upazila Health Complex and later moved to Noakhali General Hospital. Due to his deteriorating condition, he has been transferred to Dhaka for advanced medical treatment. Local sources noted that Rahman had been targeted in a previous assault in 2020.

Police from the Begumganj Model Police Station visited the scene and are investigating the incident. Authorities stated they are looking into those involved and will take legal action upon receiving a formal written complaint.
