Businessman Veeramani arrested in Chennai sexual assault case

Granite businessman Veeramani, chairman of the Gem Group, has been arrested following a sexual assault investigation in Chennai. The case surfaced after a volunteer provided a tip to the Chennai Central Crime Branch, leading to the discovery of disturbing video evidence involving the assault of a 13-year-old girl.

Police investigations revealed that Veeramani had rented a house in Thenampet, managed by Shanthi and Mahendra Simkan, to facilitate these crimes. Authorities allege that the accused brought young girls to the location and also facilitated the transfer of girls to other prominent businessmen and VIPs.

Following raids on several residences and offices, police seized relevant photographs and evidence. Veeramani, Shanthi, and Mahendra Simkan have been arrested and remanded to custody. Investigators have gathered statements from at least nine victims who have come forward to report being sexually assaulted by the accused.
