Busoga Kingdom receives pledge of government support during coronation anniversary

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has pledged continued government support for the Busoga Kingdom’s development, focusing on agriculture, infrastructure, and commercial transformation. The pledge was delivered via Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja during the 12th coronation anniversary of Kyabazinga William Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV in Mayuge District.

Museveni emphasized that traditional institutions serve as vital anchors for social cohesion and wealth creation. He encouraged the community to transition from subsistence farming to commercial production to create jobs for young people.

Minister for the Presidency Milly Babalanda also commended the Kyabazinga for initiatives that align with government programs, such as youth skilling and household income generation. The Kyabazinga has recently promoted cash crops like cocoa and coffee and supported educational infrastructure, including the construction of dormitories at Kitaidhumbwa Community Primary School. Additionally, the kingdom has launched programs to combat teenage pregnancy and early marriages to reduce school dropout rates.
