Busta Rhymes settles lawsuit with former assistant
Rapper Busta Rhymes has agreed to a settlement to resolve legal disputes with his former personal assistant, Dashiel Gables. The settlement involves two payments of $12,500, totaling $25,000. One payment is designated for wages, while the other addresses claims of workplace misconduct.
Gables, who worked for Rhymes from mid-2024 to early 2025, had initially sought approximately $6 million. His federal complaint alleged improper compensation for overtime, claiming he worked 15 to 18 hours daily for a flat $200 rate. Additionally, Gables alleged that Rhymes assaulted him during a confrontation in Brooklyn in January 2025. Rhymes denied the allegations, characterizing them as fabricated, and filed a countersuit for reputational damage.
Under the terms of the agreement, Gables must return private work materials. The case awaits final approval from a federal judge regarding the wage portion of the deal.
