Busto Arsizio hosts restorative justice meeting regarding Judge Livatino

In a significant restorative justice initiative, a public meeting will take place on October 29 at the Busto Arsizio Court. The event features Salvatore Insenga, the cousin and direct descendant of Judge Rosario Livatino, and Salvatore Calafato and Paolo Amico, who have been imprisoned for 36 years for the 1990 mafia assassination of the Sicilian magistrate.

Supported by mediators from the Centro Incontra in Bergamo and Archbishop Mario Delpini, the meeting aims to create a space for dialogue regarding the consequences of violence and the collective memory of the Italian judiciary. Rosario Livatino, who was beatified by the Catholic Church in 2021, remains a symbol of the struggle for legality and faith.

The initiative was promoted by Don David Maria Riboldi, chaplain of the Busto Arsizio prison, to address the wounds left by the crime on both the individuals involved and the broader community.
