Busy Philipps reveals brain tumor diagnosis following preventive MRI

Actress Busy Philipps, known for her roles in ‘Dawson’s Creek’, ‘Freaks and Geeks’, and ‘Cougar Town’, has revealed that she was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor. The discovery was made by chance following a preventive total body MRI, a decision she made despite her doctor initially suggesting the scan was unnecessary.

The tumor, identified as a grade 2 oligodendroglioma, was a 2.6-centimeter mass located in the right frontal lobe. Philipps underwent a five-hour surgical procedure on March 2 to remove the mass. Following the successful removal, doctors indicated that she will not require chemotherapy or radiation therapy, though she will remain under medical monitoring with check-ups every three months.

Philipps shared her experience to emphasize the importance of preventive health screenings. Her diagnosis occurred during a period of personal grief following the death of actor and colleague James Van Der Beek.
