Busy Philipps reveals brain tumor discovery via preventative MRI

Actress Busy Philipps has revealed that she underwent two brain surgeries earlier this year after a preventative full-body MRI discovered a tumor, despite her having no prior symptoms.

The scan, conducted in February, identified a lesion in her frontal lobe. Follow-up imaging confirmed a 2.6-centimeter grade 2 oligodendroglioma. On March 2, a five-hour operation was performed to remove the tumor. Philipps later underwent a second surgery in late April to treat a staph infection at the incision site.

Her neuro-oncologist noted that while oligodendrogliomas are classified as cancerous due to their tendency to regrow, grade 2 tumors are slow-growing. Doctors indicated that waiting for symptoms like seizures or headaches could have allowed the tumor to grow significantly larger. Philipps has since shared recovery photos on social media, reassuring fans that she has recovered and is doing well.
