Butlaroo secures multi-million euro investment from Jitse Groen
Jitse Groen, the founder of Just Eat Takeaway, has made a multi-million euro investment in the Eindhoven-based technology company Butlaroo. Through this deal, Groen acquires a minority stake in the scale-up.
Founded in 2014 by brothers Daniël and Lucas Duwaer, Butlaroo provides a digital platform for the hospitality sector, allowing guests to order and pay via QR codes, ordering pillars, or online interfaces. The platform digitizes various processes, including ordering, payments, and loyalty programs, while using AI to analyze consumer behavior to help restaurants improve sales and efficiency.
While the Duwaer brothers do not view the platform as a direct competitor to Just Eat Takeaway, some industry experts suggest Butlaroo could become a competitor due to its direct access to hospitality entrepreneurs, consumers, and valuable ordering data. Butlaroo intends to use the new funding to invest in its technology and pursue expansion across Europe and beyond.
