Buxton and Torquay United secure wins in English pre‑season friendlies
Buxton opened its pre‑season campaign with a 6‑1 victory over former rivals Droylsden under new manager Jordan Broadbent. New signings Tai Sodje and Sisa Tuntulwana each scored, and Sodje completed a hat‑trick as the team showcased a dominant attacking display ahead of the National League North start.
In a separate pre‑season friendly, Torquay United defeated Buckland Athletic in front of a crowd of 1,275 at The VX3 Stadium. Isaac Westendorf opened the scoring after five minutes, followed by goals from Callum Morton and Jonah Shaw, highlighting the Gulls' “unforgiving and unrelenting” style as they build fitness and experience for the upcoming season.
Both matches featured numerous new players and highlighted the clubs' focus on preparing squads, testing tactics and engaging fans ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
