Buzău Mayor Constantin Toma to run independently from PSD

Constantin Toma, the mayor of Buzău, has announced that he will no longer run for office as a candidate for the Social Democratic Party (PSD) in upcoming local elections. He stated that his primary option is to run as an independent candidate.

Toma previously resigned from all leadership positions within the PSD in June while maintaining his membership. He indicated that while he is open to support from other political formations, he has explicitly ruled out any collaboration or association with the AUR or SOS România parties.

The mayor has historically maintained strong local support, having been elected in the last two local elections with 78% and 67% of the vote, respectively.
