Bávaro hotel faces allegations of animal cruelty
An investigation has been requested following allegations of animal cruelty at a hotel located in the El Cortecito–Los Corales area of Bávaro. The claims surfaced via a video shared by Julián Zobieta, who reported finding a cat that had been hanged.
According to the report, the incident led to a verbal confrontation with staff at the establishment. Zobieta expressed concerns that the abuse might not be an isolated incident, noting the presence of other dead cats in the footage. There are unverified suspicions that animals may be being sacrificed for consumption, a claim that requires formal inspection by authorities to confirm or refute.
Calls for intervention have been made to the National Police, the Public Ministry, and animal protection agencies in La Altagracia to determine the cause of death, preserve evidence, and establish legal responsibility under Law 248-12 on Animal Protection and Responsible Ownership.
