BVG expands Berlin bus services and reinstates routes

The Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) is expanding its bus services in Berlin following a period of service reductions caused by driver shortages. Starting August 23, several lines will see increased frequency or route extensions.

Key changes include the extension of the M77 line by approximately five kilometers, now running from Marienfelde to Hermannstraße station. The 310 line, which was discontinued in 2023, will resume service between Wilmersdorfer Straße/Charlottenburg and Blissestraße/Uhlandstraße. Additionally, the X33 line connecting Spandau and Reinickendorf will operate with longer hours in the evening and more frequent daytime service.

BVG CEO Henrik Falk stated that the company no longer faces a personnel bottleneck, noting that there are now sufficient drivers for buses, U-Bahn, and trams. This stabilization has also improved U-Bahn reliability, which reached approximately 98 percent in the first half of the year.
